tan(2x)=-1

hoiw do you solve this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do inverse tan(-1), which gives you 2x, and then solve it normally. Questions?

tan 2x = -1. Trig conversion table gives: tan 2x = tan 3Pi/4, then x1 = ... The trig unit circle gives another arc that has the same value (-1); tan 2x = tan (3Pi/4 + Pi). Then x =....

NOTE. To solve trig equations, don't simply use triangle trigonometry. Use the trig unit circle as basic mean to solve trig equations since trig functions are all periodic circular functions.
