I'm reading this chemistry book called Cavemen Chemistry, which so far seems good, but I do have a simple question about it. In my book, it says that a pure substance has a fixed composition. Don't all compounds have a fixed composition? So, are pure substances just another name for compounds? Thanks to anyone who answers; just trying to work out my confusion.
