Why is history open to ongoing and changing interpretations?
Because as time goes on we discover new pieces to the puzzles and new ideas or discoveries of how something could have been done. Also as new bones are uncovered we can learn more about the people who lived back then and their structure and bones can give us insight into how their environment shaped them . Also things that we previously thought unimportant or that others wrote off as unimportant can really be the key to understanding what went on during that time and it can take new ways of looking at the history and also a certain open mindness about possibilities like considering that maybe they did have a different religion or a different way of living than we would like to accept. Or realizing that maybe how someone was looking at history was incorrect and then you have to go over it all to find out what is the truth at that time to the best of their knowledge. Hope that might help a little.
