What is the probability that a randomly selected worker from the factory has attended the safety workshop, given that the employee has not been injured on the job?

OpenStudy (highschoolmom2010):

OpenStudy (mathmale):

This is "contingent probability." We know that one event has already happened ("the employee was NOT injured on the job"). With that in mind, we want to know what the probability is that this person has taken the safety workshop and presumably benefited from having done so. Have you done any problems of this kind before, from which you could guess what to do to solve the current problem?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Example: suppose that we are told that a given employee has taken the safety course. What is the probability that that person will nevertheness have been injured on the job? The table tells us that a total of 39 people have taken that course; of these 39, 3 have been injured, so the relevant probability is \[P(injured | took.safety.course)=\frac{ 3 }{ 39}=\frac{ 1 }{ 3 }\]

OpenStudy (highschoolmom2010):

i havent really worked with that too much thanks for explaining it :)
