Many believed him because Germany was in a time of economic, social, and political upheaval. They needed a scape goat, someone to take the blame for other's problems. So at first, when Hitler blamed the Jews no one listened. However, as time went on, and Hitler gathered more and more supporters, others were both moved by his speeches, and imtimidated by what would happen if they didn't cooperate. Thus was Hitler's rise to power born.
