OpenStudy (highschoolmom2010):

Suppose that your softball team has a 75% chance of making the playoffs. Your cross-town rivals have an 80% chance of making the playoffs. Teams that make the playoffs have a 25% chance of making the finals. 9. P (cross-town rivals make the playoffs and the finals)

OpenStudy (highschoolmom2010):

this confused me because of percent

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Understandable, it did confuse me too, after all :D Anyway, if percentages confuse you so, just replace them with decimals while figuring. That's the normal way to do it, anyway. So, the rivals have a 0.80 chance of getting to the playoffs, yes?

OpenStudy (highschoolmom2010):

yes that makes sense

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Of course it does, it was given XD Anyway, now that they have a 0.8 chance of getting to the playoffs, the chances of them getting to the finals now are 0.25 So, multiply them. ^_^

OpenStudy (highschoolmom2010):

.2 is what i got... so they have a 20 percent chance?

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Yup. Exactly :D

OpenStudy (highschoolmom2010):

ty @terenzreignz

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

No problem. Though next time, please call me TJ :D cheers ^_^
