What is the solution set of -9x ≥ 27?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-9x < (or =) 27 --> x > -3 Solution set : interval [-3 , +infinity). The end point (-3) is included in the solution set. On the number line it is represented by a solid circle at point -3.

thanks thu1935 for your help .

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Not quite... The original sign was switched in terms of direction in that explanation... \[\large -9x \ge 27\] You divide both sides by -9...and when you divide by a negative in an inequality...you switch the direction of the sign... so \[\large x \le -3\] So it would be (-infinity , -3]

He is right. I made a mistake.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry, the mistake is due to I wrongly write the problem -9x < 27.

Its okay thu1935 and johnweldon1993 thanks for your help
