Iodine will replace chlorine in a single replacement reaction true or false

OpenStudy (naturesweetie):

Iodine and chlorine are both nonmetals.. A single replacement reaction is A+BC=AC+B... If you think of it like this... A boy and a girl are dancing and then another boy asks to cut in... The boys are metals and the girl is a nonmetal.. So to complete this reaction you must have a nonmetal and metal. For example, 2kcl+ F2=2FK+Cl2 Hope this info helps!

OpenStudy (jfraser):

whether the reaction will happen or not depends on the activities of chlorine and iodine. Check an activity table for the halogens, and see who can replace whom.
