Fan and Medal! I'm trying to gather some main points for my essay on the lynching of Emmett Till, and why it's important for people to learn/know about this event. The only reason I can think of why it's so important is because it basically started the end of segregation and gave blacks equal rights.
I don't know any specifics, but I suggest you look at this website: http://www.english.illinois.edu/maps/poets/g_l/lynching/lynching.htm
On the importance of lynching
That doesn't really help but thanks for trying
Its good to know about the story, because its an excellent example of racist murder. The 2 men who kidnapped him and brutally murdered the young boy who whistled at a white girl were not convicted.
It also was a great motivator for the African American's civil rights moment, considering it took place at the start of the movement.
