We were down to the final two teams in the middle school county trivia contest. Sumatra Singh from Breckwood Middle School stepped up to the microphone. “What is the capital of Vermont?” the judge asked. Sumatra stared at him helplessly. I could tell she didn’t know. “Burlington?” she whispered meekly. “I’m sorry,” the judge replied. “If the other team answers correctly, your team will be out.” Luckily, it was my turn. Not only did I know the answer, it was where I was born. “Montpelier!” I practically shouted. My team ran forward to hug me as the judge congratulated us.
