How many real roots describe the given polynomial function? f(x) = 8x3 - 2x2 - 15x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you? :-) @desi0954

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Of course you could care less how the answer was obtained?!?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its 3 because the largest exponent in the equation is 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@desi0954 That doesn't mean it will have 3 real roots. Some of the roots could be imaginary.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

She said "real roots"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh idk thats how I learned it. Sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It actually is 3 real roots though, because it actually does factor into x(2x-3)(4x+5)....but it doesn't always work out that way
