I have one question. but it's a long one. Please help!

OpenStudy (31356):

How may I help you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here's the diagram. I just need some steps to figure it out please!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For question one, you know that ADC and BCD angles on the parallelogram sum to 180 degrees. Imagine shifting the parallelogram so it forms a rectangle, then you will see this intuitively.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

question b?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

question b is the 180 degrees?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now, do the same mental shift to form a rectangle of the parallelogram and you will see that sides AB and DC are equal. Yes, question B involves two angles that will sum to 180 degrees.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay I understand that. So for question b. Would I set that up like 3x+5x=180?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay thank you!! and question C.. I would put in the x substitute and solve to 180 again?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, Question C does not involve angles, only lengths.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For C, you see that the sides are equal when you mentally turn the parallelogram into a rectangle. For D do the same as for C. Same mental shift. The sides are equal. Anyway, you also know this because of the definition of a parellelogram.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ooo okay. So I would just equal to each other since they are congruent sides.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Great.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For E do the same as for B.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ooo yes thank ya very much!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

YW. I think you can figure out F.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes I hope so. would I just equal it to each other with 3x-2=34?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thats for F^^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay thank you for all the help!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

YW, take care. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ahh crap! sorry now I'm stuck there was a problem A. and it says angle DAB measures (4x-2) degrees and angle BCD measures 47 degrees. Find X. So I equaled those together and got 12.25. I don't think that's right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I didn't check your algebra, but the procedure looks right. The angles are equal.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OOo okay thank ya! Take care! =}

OpenStudy (anonymous):

YW, bye :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

bye!!
