OpenStudy (johnkim2330):

Identify the horizontal asymptote of f(x) = quantity 2 x minus 1 over quantity x squared minus 7 x plus 3

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

I believe the horizontal asymptote is y = 0. I'm using some rules that I was learned. I'll show you.

OpenStudy (johnkim2330):

Thx a lot

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

d\[\frac{ 2x - 1 }{ x^{2} -7x + 3 }\]

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

As you can see, the denominator is a higher degree polynomial than the numerator (x^2 compared to 2x). If you think about it, that means the denominator gets bigger faster than the numerator. So, the equation will be near 0 as you go to the right.
