Location- The city of Constantinople (now Istanbul) is in both Europe and Asia. They bought silk, traded slaves, glass, grains, textiles, etc. Cultures- The city's location made it important for Greeks and Romans, and being on two continents allowed the city to be exposed to different cultures and practices.
