Before i evaluate the six trigonometric functions on this I need to clarify something, when i found the squar root of 85 i got 9.219544457......how do i round it? or am i supposed to leave it like that? I really dont know and im bad at rounding
Does it say to round?
Not really but i dont think i can find the sin cos tan cot csc sec with 9.219544457
You need to find that third side by using the Pythagorean thm. I wouldn't round sqrt(85). I would leave it as sqrt(85).
Have you found the third side of the triangle, yet?
it confuses me if i leave it like that but let me try
It should be less ugly if you use the actual value instead of an approximated value You do know a square cancels a square root, right?
You mean like how on my calculator sqrt85^2 is 85
yep.
So what did you get for the other side?
Let's call the missing side x. We have \[x^2+6^2=(\sqrt{85})^2 \] Did you get this far?
All I did was use the Pythagorean thm
You know you can write this as... \[x^2+36=85 \] Can you isolate x^2?
the answer is 7
yeah you did it now just use the definition of sin(theta)=opp/hyp and we will get to the other definitions in a second. What measurement is given opp to theta?
