OpenStudy (anonymous):

px + qy = r 2px - qy = 2r When solving this system of equations, x = A.p/r B.r/p C.3r/2p

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Little too late I'm sure...however \[\large px + qy = r\] \[\large 2px - qy = 2r\] When you add these 2 equations...the +qy and -qy cancel out...so \[\large 3px = 3r\] Then you just divide both sides by 30 to isolate x \[\large x = \frac{r}{p}\] Hope that helps _
