Can someone help me come up with a formula for the following math question: At the end of the 2000 baseball season, the New York Yankees and the Cincinnati Reds had won a total of 31 World Series. The Yankees had won 5.2 times as many World Series as the Reds. How many World Series did each team win?

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

Let x = the amount of World Series' the Reds won. Can you write an equation to express the problem?

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

Since the Yankees won 5.2 times as much as the Reds, the amount of WS' Yankees won will be 5.2x
