-27=v/5-7

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

Add 7 to both sides, what do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-20?

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

-20 = v/5 Multiply both sides by 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so which side gives me my answe?

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

We'll get to that later, what's -20 * 5 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

v=-100 I think

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

@Maria195 Refrain from giving out answers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes -100

OpenStudy (anonymous):

)_) sorry.

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

So, -27 = -100/5 - 7 -27 = -20 - 7 -27 = -27 <-- so -100 is right. V = -100

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so I multiply when it's problems like this?

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

You're doing the inverse, its was subtracting 7 so you added 7. To keep it balanced, you do it to both sides, it was dividing by 5, so to undo that you multiplied by 5, you need to keep it balanced so you multiplied both sides by 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok! Thank you

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):
