68 is what percent of 27.2? I need to figure out how to do these

OpenStudy (nikato):

So you write a proportion. This is how I remember. Percent =x/100 so x. is -- = ---- 100. Of Using this and substituting values from your problem gives you x. 68 --- =. ----- 100. 27.2 Now cross multiply and try to solve for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Still a little confused

OpenStudy (nikato):

Ok. Do you agree with me? If you have x%, it's the same as x/100

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes! I agree

OpenStudy (nikato):

Ok. And it's hard to explain, but this part is something you just gotta remember and memorize and know. When is says a number "is" , that number is the PART, also known as the numerator When it says "of" a number, that number is the whole, or also known as the denominator Does this make sense to you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes!

OpenStudy (nikato):

So are you able to solve for x now? And do you now get the way I set up the problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im confused with the last step

OpenStudy (nikato):

What last step?
