can anyone help me to find distance between plane?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

P1(s,t)=(-3,4,-9)+s(9,-5,9)+t(3,-2,3) p2(s,t)=(5,0,3)+s(-9,2,-9)+t(-4,7,-4)

find the distance between two plane & also show them are parallel..anyone can help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If the planes are parallel, the vectors perpendiculars to them should be parallel. So if you can find the perpendicular vectors for each of the plane and then prove they are parallel then the planes are parallel. If they are not parallel the planes are nor parallel. Try that out!

how about the distance?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Take any point on one of the plane by choosing value of s and t. Call this the vector R. Then add to R another vector which dN. Here N is the normal to the plane and d is a real number. So far, d is the only variable here. Now R+dN will touch the other plane for some value of d and that value of d is the distance between the planes!!
