@ganeshie8

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

equation of a line :- \(f(x) = mx + b\)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

\(m\) is slope \(b\) is y-intercept

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

look at the graph, notice that the line is falling down 2 units, for every 1 unit to right

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

so, \(m = \frac{-2}{1}\)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

so the function wud be :- \(f(x) = -2x + b\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohh so you make it into a fraction for how often it falls?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

you still need to find "y-intercept" and plugin

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

yes !

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

slope is just "how much the line is falling/rising as u move right"

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

do u knw how to find \(b\) value ha ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Still kinda confused, on that.. Were/how would you start?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

look at the graph, can u tell me where the line is crossing y-axis ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

At -1

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

yes ! so, \(b = -1 \)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohhh It make so much more sense now!

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

the funciton wud be :- \(f(x) = -2x -1\)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

glad to hear :) u wlc !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So it's b!
