Please always include the directions when you post a problem. What are you looking for in this particular problem? Can x^2+6x=0 be factored? If so, please factor it.

the topic is solving quadratics

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Look at the two terms of your quadratic, on the left. What factor have they in common?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Good. Factor that out. x( ? ) = 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it x+ 6squared?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Factor x out of x^2. What do you get? Factor x out of 6x. What do you get? Factor x out of x^2+6x). What do you get?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Look at x^2+6x=0 again. x is common to (is a factor of) both of the two terms on the left. Factoring out x, we get x(x+6)=0. Now solve this equation for x. You should end up with two solutions.
