I need some spanish help. I need to write a formal command. I need to say this in spanish: Eat the soup. Get lots of rest. Do not drink cold liquid.
Okay, I'm here! Sorry for the wait - I was answering a History question. (e . e)
Okay, so...you need to do a formal command. Do you a little idea of what that could be, or who you would give a formal command to?
a teacher, for ex.
Yes, correct! And to a teacher it would be to used "usted". c: Let me show you the RULES. c: Based on StudySpanish, The formal commands are formed the same way as the present subjunctive: Start with the yo form of the present indicative. Then drop the -o ending. Finally, add the following endings: -ar verbs: -e (for Ud.), -en (for Uds.) -er and -ir verbs: -a (for Ud.), -an (for Uds.) So, for example, the first command, "Eat the soup" would be "Coma usted la sopa." since "comer" is an -er verb and you have to drop the ending and add "-a".
ok
what about the next 2
Soryr about that I got busy. Anyways, I think it would be best if you try to do them by your self - I did give you the basic rules on ho to do it. c: At least try the last one "Do not drink cold liquid" since it is the easier one. c;
@esshotwired
I found this very helpful in my lessons. Use this to try and figure out the last one.
so.. it would be: Descansa mucho.
what about the last sentence? the verb bebida ends in "da" not ar, er, or ir.
maybe you could help me think of an easier sentence? tell someone not to do something since they are sick.
how about: No coma una hamburguesa.
Well bebida is the noun drink. The verb for to drink is beber. So you could till do that sentence.
No coma una hamburguesa is fine to use.
ok
so its No beber líquidos fríos?
It would actually be 'No beba líquidos fríos' because you have to drop the -er in beber and change it to an -a. But otherwise, yes it is correct.
ok thanks
