\[area of triangle = \frac{ base \times height }{ 2 }\] \[area of square = side ^{2}\] area of shaded part = area of triangle - area of square

OpenStudy (hoblos):

in the triangle: base = 30 and height=30 in the square: side = 15 can you solve it now ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Base x Height / 2?

OpenStudy (hoblos):

Base x Height / 2 is the area of the triangle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So- get the complete area first- correct?

OpenStudy (hoblos):

yes you have to get the complete area of the triangle first then the area of the square subtract them to get the area of shaded region

OpenStudy (anonymous):

675?

OpenStudy (hoblos):

area of triangle = 30*30/2 = 900/2 = 450 area of square = 15^2 = 225 area of shaded region = 450-225 = 225
