you must break down the word first. the prefix is phys. phys is a Greek root meaning nature. Osis is another Greek root it is a suffix that means having to do with the mind mostly in an abnormal state of Psychosis is a symptom of mental illness not a name of a problem itself. but it means losing contact with the real world now put it all together, we borrowed it from the Greeks technically and just because we needed a word to describe
