If the median of the score distribution on this pop quiz is more than 170, the teacher will drop the next pop quiz. The pop quiz scores followed this distribution: {180, 175, 163, 186, 153, 194, 198, 183, 187, 174, 177, 196, 162, 185, 174, 195, 164, 152, 144, 138, 125, 110}. What is the median of the distribution?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Put the scores in ascending order. Next, take the middle element, if you have an odd number of data points, or the average of the 2 middle elements, if you have an even number of data points. That is your median.

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

You can also put the scores in descending order and get the same result, if that's easier.
