A sign in a clothing store said, "All prices reduced 25% . Final prices marked on tags." DeLea found a sweatshirt that showed a price of $27 . What was the original price of the sweatshirt?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

if $27 is the discounted price, that means $27 is really 100% - 25%, so 75% so $27 is really just the 75% of the original price, so \(\large \begin{array}{ccllll} quantity&percentage\\ \hline\\ x&100\\ 27&75 \end{array}\implies \bf \cfrac{x}{27}=\cfrac{100}{75}\)
