What would most likely happen in the ecosystem shown in the above food web if the zooplankton population significantly decreased?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a The phytoplankton population would decrease. b The squid population would increase. c The shrimp population would decrease.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if teh zooplankton decreased shrimp wouldnt get some of ttheir protien and that would also mean that physoplakton would be decreasing too beacuse most of them eat zooplankton

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its a

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it was c lol and heres why A food web shows how organisms produce and depend upon each other for food. In an ecosystem, when the population of one organism changes, it can affect the populations of other organisms. In this food web, shrimp depend upon zooplankton as a food source. If there was a decrease in the zooplankton population, the shrimp population would decrease because there would be a decrease in the amount of food available for the shrimp to eat.
