According to Cortes' quote it seems that Cortez had little regard for the Aztecs and regarded them as sub human. He thought that they were sub human because they were not civilized, were not European, and were not Christian. Because of these reasons he thought that the Aztecs were better off being dead and the land becoming Spanish.
