how did world war II affect the ecounomy in the united states
It sounds crazy, but it actually boosted the economy for a short time and helped in recovering from the Great Depression because of the need to mobilize factories, workers, and all sorts of other jobs to support the war effort. That's why there's that saying "war is good for business"...especially if you happen to be in one related to building something for the military. After WW2, the US scaled down from a war economy, but because they were technically the only nation left standing with a strong infrastructure (Europe was in ruins after being a battleground and the USSR wasn't much better), they were able to take a leadership role in rebuilding Western Europe and Japan which provided new markets.
