All the founders studied the Enlightenment thinkers. Their ideas are all over the Declaration and Constitution. English and Scottish writers were most popular (David Hume, Adam Smith, John Locke, Thomas Hobbes) but the French Montesquieu was also influential. Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams are also seen as Enlightenment thinkers. They each were on the committee to write the DoI. But your teacher is probably not looking for those names as an answer.
