Solve each equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x - 6 = 8 a. x = -2 b. x = 2 c. x = -14 d. x = 14

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

You can do this bro. How can you get x by itself?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

have to subtract it right?

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

No, try again. There is x-6 on the left hand side.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no inverse operation, (so you have to add 6)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay you have to add so you get 14

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this easy .. just take your time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but i don't know if its positive or negative

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats the part that confuses me

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

Well, you added 6 to both sides. x - 6 + 6 = 8 + 6. When you add two positive #'s, won't you get a positive number?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah thanks so much for your help!
