OpenStudy (timaashorty):

Can anyone help me in a sampling question? I know the answer, I just need further explanation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can try. What do you got?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you remember the different types of sampling bias?

OpenStudy (timaashorty):

Self-selection bias, prescreening, exclusion, under coverage bias?

OpenStudy (timaashorty):

simple randoming

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which do you think might apply to this survey?

OpenStudy (timaashorty):

I'm not really sure; simple randoming?

OpenStudy (timaashorty):

@mcelroyian ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"Don't you ___" is the key phrase to bias-ness, because of the way it's stated (For a further explanation, check out "Reverse Psychology"), so if any sentence has that it is pretty much automatically biased. "Do you think", it doesn't have "Don't you ___", but "think" is asking for opinion.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well simple randoming introduces bias inbetween the sample being questioned and the sample who you are targeting. Is this the case here?

OpenStudy (timaashorty):

@BlueDawn Thanks for explaining it like that but do you agree, is also asking for an opinion. & I believe so @mcelroyian

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well blue dawn was correct. The problems with the other questions is in how they are phrased. Asking for an opinion is ok, but the problem is the way they phrased the question is confusing. Dont is negative but should is positive so no matter how they respond you don't know whether they were responding to the negative on don't or the positive of should.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And the last question is multiple choice. How can you know which option they were responding too? Do they want to plant gardens or park benches?

OpenStudy (timaashorty):

Thank you so much for this explanation. But what did you mean by blue dawn?

OpenStudy (timaashorty):

Oh nvm your talking about the blue dawn user
