Geometry 14 Online
OpenStudy (eg145341):

Find the value of x. Round your answer to the nearest tenth.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I need the actual problem that goes with this :)

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

due to lack of clairvoyance, we could use the picture of the material

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are you familiar with SOHCAHTOA?

OpenStudy (eg145341):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The only way to solve this problem is by using the trig identities of SOHCAHTOA

OpenStudy (eg145341):

Okay, so would the equation be tan61 = x/9?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, exactly. And then you just use Algebra rules to get x by itself and plug the other side into a calculator for your answer.

OpenStudy (eg145341):

So x would equal 16.2 rounding to the nearest 10th?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If 9/tan61 equals the 16.2, yes. (I don't have a calculator handy on me.)

OpenStudy (eg145341):

Okay, thanks =)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem, good luck.
