find axis of symmetry of 3x^2

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

graph it, and notice its vertex, from there you'd see the axis of symmetry since it's one of the vertex coordinates

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can't graph it. I have to figure it out without graphing

OpenStudy (mathmale):

y = 3x^2 is a quadratic function. Generally, the graph of a quadratic function looks like what? Does it have a vertex? If so, what are the coordinates of the vertex? The axis of symmetry of a vertical (name ) passes through the x-coordinate of the vertex.
