-5/6(9+2x)=40

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I need to figure out what X means, If you guys could help I would appreciate it.

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

is that \[-\frac{5}{6}(9+2x) = 40\]Are we supposed to find the value of \(x\)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, I couldn't figure out the answer after about an hour of studying this.

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

I would multiply both sides by -6, then divide both sides by 5. Now you can subtract 9 from both sides, and divide both sides by 2 to give you \(x\) all alone on one side, and a number on the other. Give it a try, and I'll check your answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is X=\[-57/2\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which is basically -28.5

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Yes, it is...
