From what we know about Odysseus, how should we take his insult to Penelope? 1.) He is trying to placate Calypso so she will not make his journey more difficult. 2.) He really does not think much of Penelope. 3.) It is a complete lie. He has no feelings for Calypso whatsoever. 4.) He does not really insult Penelope. Odysseus does not care for beauty.
