Which ordered pair is a solution to the equation y=x-4? I know it is one of these two but I don't know which one. (2,6) or (6,2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In order to find out if it is a solution you have to plug in the point (2,6) or (6,2) into the equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which order do I plug it in? Does the first number go to the y or the x? Sorry if i'm confusing you. I'm confusing myself lol.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha no you are not confusing me. :) What you have to remember is that in a coordinate point like (2,6), the first number is x and the second number is y.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you that helps a ton! So the answer is (6,2) right? I hope it's right or I'm going to feel dumb lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes that is correct. Don't worry you are definitely not dumb. Everyone gets stuck at one point in their life :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yay! Thank you!

No problem
