URGENT!!! One railroad track was laid out on the line y = 8x - 2 by the engineers in charge. Which of the following lines could have been the other parallel track? A. y = 2x - 8 B. y = -⅛x + 3 C. y = 4 + 8x D. 2y = 8x + 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Parallel lines means that they have the same slope.

@whpalmer4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if the first formula is y=8x-2 the slope is 8.

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

yes, parallel lines will have the same slope. if the equation is in slope-intercept form, it will look like \[y = mx + b\] where \(m\) is the slope and \(b\) is the value of the y-intercept

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

There's a "trap" answer here, don't be fooled!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how can I solve this?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

look at all the equations. find one that can be rearranged into the form \[y = 8x +b\] where \(b\) is some constant.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im really confused? is it like C because of the 8x?
