help.. I hate fractions!

OpenStudy (vshiroky):

OpenStudy (vshiroky):

so far I have x^2-7/9x+1/2x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Given 1st root=-1/2 and 2nd root=7/9 so sum of roots,(-b/a)=(-1/2)+7/9=1/3 product of roots,(c/a)=(-1/2)*7/9=-7/18 SO the quadratic equation is x^2+(-b/a)x+(c/a)=0 or,x^2+(1/3)x+(-7/18)=0 or,18x^2+6x-7=0

OpenStudy (vshiroky):

it said that is wrong.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x^2-0.27x-0.385=0

OpenStudy (nikato):

So those fractions are you're answer. You would work backward to find the equation (x+1/2)(x-7/18)=0 Because solving x+1/2=0. x-7/9=0 x=-1/2. x=7/9 So foil (x+1/2)(x-7/9)=0 You'll get x^2 -5/18x -7/18=0 Because it wants you in standard form, all integers should be whole numbers, not fractions so multiply both sides by 18 So your equation in standard form is 18x^2 -5x -7=0
