How do you construct A perpendicular from a point to a line?

Set a compass for width greater than the distance from the point to the line. Place a compass on the point and strike 2 arcs on the line. Place the compass on one of the arcs just struck and strike another arc. Repeat the above step for the other arc. Draw a line where the arcs cross to the point.

I was a little slow, but it seems that my solution uses the same method as ranga's.
