help

OpenStudy (vshiroky):

OpenStudy (vshiroky):

\[6\sqrt{35}-2\]

OpenStudy (vshiroky):

@ganeshie8 @ikram002p Can either of you verify?

OpenStudy (vshiroky):

@Luigi0210 @sourwing @whpalmer4

rvc (rvc):

a+b(c+d)

rvc (rvc):

a(c+d)+b(c+d)

OpenStudy (vshiroky):

Is my answer correct?

rvc (rvc):

just try using this formula @vshiroky

OpenStudy (vshiroky):

I did use that formula.. I'm just trying to double check

rvc (rvc):

where's ur ans

OpenStudy (vshiroky):

Above the 6sqrt35-2

rvc (rvc):

\[6sqrt{35-2}\] u mean this?

OpenStudy (vshiroky):

yes

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

doesnt look correct, u knw about FOIL ?

OpenStudy (vshiroky):

-2+6sqrt35

rvc (rvc):

its not correct

OpenStudy (vshiroky):

11-9sqrt35

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

There you go...

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

\(\large \color{red}{\checkmark}\)

rvc (rvc):

\[5sqrt{5(sqrt{5-2sqrt{7}}}) +sqrt{7}(sqrt{5-2sqrt{7}})\]

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

My way: let \(s = \sqrt{7}\) and \(f = \sqrt{5}\) \[(5f+s)(f-2s) = 5f^2 -10sf +sf -2s^2\]\[=5(\sqrt{5})^2 - 10\sqrt{5}\sqrt{7} + \sqrt{5}\sqrt{7} - 2(\sqrt{7})^2\]\[=25-9\sqrt{35}-14\]\[ = 11-9\sqrt{35}\]

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

any problem with lots of messy algebra involving radicals or trig functions, I'll probably do a substitution to make the writing or typing easier
