Find all the roots of the polynomial function F(x)=x^2-2x-24

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know how to factor?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not really

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ask yourself, what two numbers when you multiply them together will give you -24 and will the same numbers add up to -2, which is the one in the middle?

2 and -12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The answer to this question is -6 and +4. so x^2-2x-24 = (x-6)(x+4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

If you multiply 2 and -12 it will give you -24 but it wont add up to -2 thats why I choose -6 and +4
