Yes, it is true or false :-) Elements are atoms with the same number of protons. Every carbon atom has the same number of protons, and no atom which is not a carbon atom will have that number of protons. Compounds are combinations of different elements. Table salt, for example, is a combination of 1 sodium atom (Na) and 1 chlorine atom (Cl), written NaCl.
