eighteen students in a class play baseball. Seventeen students play basketball. Thirty students play either or both sports. Venn diagram problem plz help!
ok, did you draw a venn diagram?
|dw:1395339566671:dw|
what's that either or both?
thats the 30 students
at end of question
would you like some examples? i have a few.
"will give medal to most accurate answer" <- never say this. people don't care about metal
so is the formula for the union?
*what is*..
im not exactly sure... i just started this kind of problem 5 minutes ago.
here's some options if it helps
n(A or B) = n(A) + n(B) - n(A and B)
first one
it is? ok... so how did you get it? i really want to know.
use that formula above i gave you 30 = 18 + 17 - n(A and B) n(A and B) = 5 so 5 students play both base ball and basketball.
ohhhhhh.... ok hopefully thatl'l stick....
so that means 18 - 5 = 13 students play only baseball and 17 - 5 = 12 students play only basketball
would the formula change if it looked like this?|dw:1395340303480:dw| somewhat? XD
in other words, if it had 3 links.
yes the formula will change
ok.
