A= 2(3.14)(radius which is 1/2 of diameter)(height) + 2(3.14)(radius^2)
OpenStudy (mwhit2101):
I've done that at least 5 times and unless I'm doing something wrong, the result is none of my answer choices.
OpenStudy (immings):
convert to centimetres then back to inches
OpenStudy (mwhit2101):
6.26(7.55)(12.8)+6.28(15.1) correct? It's none of my choices
OpenStudy (mwhit2101):
How to I do that

1 inch is 2.54 centimetres so multiply the inches by 2.54
OpenStudy (mwhit2101):
Why would that help?
OpenStudy (immings):
Is your answer maybe in centimetres instead of inches? Just an idea.
OpenStudy (mwhit2101):
No the problem and the choices are inches
OpenStudy (immings):
oh ok.

you need the equation for the surface area of a cylinder. do you know that?
OpenStudy (immings):
Oh after re reading it you only need the area of just the sides not the top.
So use A= 2(3.14)(7.55)(12.8)
OpenStudy (immings):
The rest of the equation is for finding the top and bottom "circle" surface area. which you don't need.
OpenStudy (mwhit2101):
ok so I get...
OpenStudy (mwhit2101):
606
