The coil is placed in the magnetic field of a horseshoe magnet. The plane of the coil is at right angles to the field. The coil is then removed to a region where B = 0, and using an oscilloscope, the following signal is observed across the ends of the wires of the coil.

The vertical sensitivity is 10 mV/cm and the horizontal sensitivity is 20 ms/cm.
