Solve for x: e^(x)=72

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 4.277 is this correct?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Yes. Another way to solve this problem would be to take the natural log of both sides. Then x=ln 72. ln 72 can, in turn, be simplified. For example, ln 72=ln36 + ln 2, ln 36= ln 6^2, and so on.
