The presence of telomeres indicates that every organism and cell, when born, has its death already programmed. There are some things, such as Vitamin D (which is produced by skin exposed to sunlight), that extend the life of the telomeres. While such therapy might extend longevity, why should death, either by aging or cancer, be inevitable? Of what usefulness is death to life on Earth?”
hi @yougirlgirl do u know what are telomeres....according to what i know they have no connection to programmed death but actually telomeres are never expressed....they are heterochromatin...

every somatic cell in the body has a specific life span. It can undergo a limited number of cell divisions known as " hayflick limit " after which it dies off. This is a mechanism by which the body ensures normal physiological functioning of the organism because as cells age they accumulate damages in their biomolecules like DNA , proteins thus affecting the normal functioning of the cell and the organism as a whole. So dysfunctional aged cells are removed by apoptosis and replaced by newer healthy cells. increasing the life span of an organism indirectly means increasing the life span of the cells that make up the organism. I already mentioned that as cells age they accumulate damages in their biomolecules . Damages in DNA in the form of mutations can give rise to cancer which might culminate in death. Similarly ageing of cells to a level where they can no longer function normally will lead to their death and ultimately the death of the organism. Thus death is inevitable. diseases associated with aging like neurodegenerative diseases are on a rise .why ? advances in healthcare have now increased the life span of human beings, however they are unable to combat the diseases that accompany aging.
