each pail of plaster covers 90 square feet of ceiling. What is the least number of pails of plaster you would need to buy to cover the ceiling of a room with walls 14 feet long?

OpenStudy (ayubie):

If all of the walls are 14 feet long, you can treat the ceiling as a square and find the area. 14 squared is 196. So we need enough to cover 196 square feet. To find out how many pails it will take you need to divide the area (196) by the amount a pail covers (90) I got 2.17777, so by rounding up you get 3 pails.

that's awesome thank you so much!
